LOCOST BUILD IN MIDRAND LOOKING FOR HELP

Postby thaskell on Thu Oct 25, 2018 1:13 pm

Hi LOCOST fraternity

I bought a locost chassis with all major body parts already assembled several years back. It came with a Toyota gearbox (splitter type box) but no motor.

I'm looking for some advice, someone who can direct me to sourcing a motor to suit the gearbox I have or advise what is the easiest/cost effective motor & drive train to suit the tunnel space. My Toyota 1300 engine with gearbox won't fit into the tunnel.
I'm not wanting to race the car just get it all together so i can teach my older grandchildren how to drive on a dirt road on our plot.

Is there anyone out there willing to help?

Regards

Tony H.

The easiest fit will be a Ford Kent engine with a Ford type 9 gearbox.

Hi Steven

I have the engine mount brackets already installed in the chassis, apparently to suit the Toyota 4AGE motor.
Sourcing this motor is difficult however so would it be an easy mod to fit the Ford motor & gearbox brackets?
