Locost 7

Postby Werner Brits on Tue Jan 29, 2019 1:33 pm

Good day gents,

I inherited a locost 7 chassis with a few spare parts from my dad and decided to finish the project.
I want some advice, this will be the first ever attempt to build something on this scale and I do have some mechanical, firbreglass and engine knowledge but the though of building a Locost made me thinking again...
- He bough a 2.0 Zetec engine running a Toyota RXi throttle body mated with a type 9 gearbox and Sierra diff (must confirm ratio). Will it be better to start with a “easier” engine or will this engine be good?
- What management system will work the best?
- Did you also use the Zetec wiring harness for all the sensors?

Regards,

Werner

The fiberglass body is alot of work to fabricate yourself, its alot more cost effective to just buy the kit from Locost.

The engine is perfect stick to it. If you buy a Spitronic ECU you can get a wiring harness which you can adapt.

Post a photo!

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the replay! I was planning to rather buy the body panels, will definitely save a lot of time!
Will talk to the guys from Spitronics and grt the prices and so on.

Going on the 9th back to the Freestate and will take a photo of all the parts, maybe start a dairy or some sort! :D
