Rear disc brakes question

Postby Vauxhall on Sat Jan 11, 2014 9:07 pm

Hi all

So im forced to do the rear disc conversion

Ive manufactured the rear uprights my self and failed to use my head and now the back plates of the drums don't fit properly

I know the common caliper is a vw golf caliper
What discs do you guys normally use with the vw setup?

Ive read somewhere that the bantam front discs fit nice but to my knowledge that is a vented disc and i dont think it wil fit the caliper

Your help is appreciated
Thanks guys

I used Audi A3 rear calipers complete with cables and escort discs , had to take a small amount off my side shafts to allow the disk to slip over, guess you could take a bit off the inside of the disk instead.

The only problem this leaves me with is that i have to use a 15" wheel for the clearance of this particular caliper but it's a sweet setup as the cables can be used unmodified with a bit of ingenuity.

You will of course need slightly longer studs and need to make mounting brackets for the calipers.

Yeah mounting brackets isnt a big issue
As far as caliper goes i think vw audi uses the same calipers and they all are more or less the same minor differences

Thanks ill look for escort discs
