I trust the chassis isn't completed yet? You still need a lot of strengthening especially in the passenger compartment.

Good luck with the build, feel free to ask as many questions as you want, chances are somebody here has already countered (and solved) the problem.

Saul, it looks like you will be the first one with the oppertunity to tailor your chassis to the Rocam drivetrain.

Download this for some good drawings of the chassis, but I'll chat to you about other enhancements you can do also: http://mcsorley.net/locost/drawings/bookChassis.pdf

Sequence I would follow:
1. Source then dummy assemble engine and gearbox, and drop into chassis, source pedal box and temp fit to chassis.
2. Make notes of any changes to the current chassis, and of enhancements you might want to make, support for pedal box, mountings for cage, handbrake etc
3. Arrange for engine mounts(locost has good ones for the Rocam), make sure you are happy with their fit onto the chassis and engine placement, may even be worth having the bottom parts welded onto the chassis
4. Get the chassis mods done, complete chassis(Woolfie has a contact), then get the chassis blasted and coated/painted
5. While chassis is in to get coated, order propshaft, source and recon suspension parts, split drivetrain and finalise drivetrain, reassemble with clutch etc.
6. When chassis is ready, temp fit nosecone, bonnet, scuttle windscreen supports and windscreen surround. Make sure they fit snug. Remove nosecone and bonnet and drop off chassis for rollcage to be made.
7. While in for rollcage, source instrumentation, electrics, piping, brake system, fuel system, tank, surge tank, ali for bodywork, p-clips, clamps, stock up on refreshments to bribe Woolfie to come and help ;) etc
8. When chassis is back, remove and store cage, fit brake pipes and pedal box, fit main electric looms, fit main fuel pipes, fit ali panels
9. Fit suspension, front and back and get it on wheels. Celebrate :D
10. fit engine and gearbox, make a exhaust bracket and then take car for exhaust to be made
Continue further as per Locost manual.

Hmm, I don't consider myself a perfectionist by any means, but I like things to look right. Anyway, we'd better not hijack Saul's thread.

Hi Saul,
Check out Peter Dunns locost page for pedal/s, dimensions and other useful advice. Also, if you're building from that sodding book, check everything, in my opinion the book may be a great motivational tool but it leaves a lot to be desired, things like the scuttle radius for instance, just not there, therefore strictly speaking, you cant build a scuttle till you have a windscreen!!!
There is so much contradictory information related to the book chassis within the book, it appears that the book doesnt cover one single build but rather a couple, all seemingly variant from the book chassis.
If you havent already done it, download the Jim Mcsorely pdf chassis and use that as a check. There are dimensional errors.
Have fun!!
Hamish.
